Applications Now Open For 2014’s Top Startups
Posted on 24th February 2014
The 2014 Startup 100, an index of the UK’s 100 most exciting, disruptive and inspiring new businesses, opened last week for nominations from entrepreneurs to apply for a place.
Established in 2008, the Startups 100 list honours the cream of the crop of UK start-up talent, as well as recognising the top new companies to demonstrate notable achievements or show strong potential of becoming a fast-growth enterprise.
Since its launch, the index has celebrated some of the UK’s most impressive success stories, with previous alumni having grown to become industry leaders, such as Naked Wines, Zoopla.co.uk and Shutl, which was acquired by eBay last October.
The 2014 list will build upon the triumphs of the 2013 Startups 100 winners with Flavourly, Mainstage Travel, and overall winner myParcelDelivery.com, all having gone on to secure major investment and scale rapidly.
Apart from impressing potential investors, being on the list guarantees invaluable press coverage and is sure to boost staff morale as well as gaining prestige and recognition from peers.
Securing a place on the index will also facilitate networking with fellow entrepreneurs and will increase respect from existing customers, as well as adding to the bottom line by undoubtedly increasing business growth.
To be eligible for consideration, recently-started businesses must be based in the UK, privately owned and launched on, or after, January 1 2011, and must also be able to demonstrate innovation or originality.
Entrepreneurs will also be judged on the basis of their growth potential, management capabilities, social impact and evidence of existing or future revenues. Nominations for the 2014 list close on March 31.
